130 Days of Posting on TikTok: What I've Learned So Far

On January 6, I challenged myself to post every single day on TikTok for a full year. Today marks day 130.

Monday

I started this because I knew TikTok mattered. Last year, I saw real growth when I posted consistently, and I wanted to recreate that momentum. But to be honest, this run hasn’t felt the same. Growth has been slower, progress has been frustrating at times, and there are days when the numbers just don’t reflect the effort.

Still, it's been worth it.

Posting Daily

As cheesy as it sounds, one DM or a kind comment can keep me going for another 100 posts. People have told me that something I said helped them through a rough patch, or encouraged them to create. That’s the fuel.

I want to prove something to myself. That I can be consistent. That I can show up for 365 days straight and create work I'm proud of. Not every post is a grand piece. Some are quick visuals, repurposed from long-form content. But they still require intention. They still require showing up.

This challenge has pushed me to shoot more. I already direct and shoot for a living, but now I find myself recording even more footage, grabbing extra b-roll, building a library of moments just to have something to pull from. The daily rhythm has made me sharper.

Of course I want the audience to grow. But more than that, I want to be useful. If someone watches one of these videos and learns something, feels a little less stuck, or simply gets a laugh—then it’s working.

The system I built has helped a lot: batch shooting, scripting in chunks, organizing files better. That structure has made the process sustainable.

So how has it gone, numbers-wise?

Since January 5:

  • 950,000+ post views (+943%)
  • 3,261 profile views (+389%)
  • 34,988 total followers, with 703 new

It’s not viral explosion territory, but it’s real. And it’s growing.

I’m not stopping.

Yes, I get tired. There are days I want to binge movies and just relax. But I genuinely enjoy the challenge. I love the discipline it demands. I love how it keeps me moving.

I love the aspect of it being a real-time case study. I'm learning what works and what doesn’t. I'm learning more about myself, my audience, and the rhythm of showing up.

I’m proud of the content I’ve made. I’m proud that I haven’t missed a day. And I’m curious what happens by day 365.

130 down. 235 to go.
